964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet

BACKGROUND:

The 964 is where Porsche modernised the 911 without diluting its character: power steering, ABS, coil-spring suspension and a comprehensively updated body while retaining the timeless silhouette. In this Carrera 2 configuration, the 3.6-litre flat-six is paired with the slick G50/03 five-speedand rear-wheel drive, for optimal driver engagement. As a Cabriolet, it adds open-air driving to one of the great usable air-cooled 911s.

Beneath the rear decklid sits the 3.6-litre M64/01 air-cooled flat-six producing 250 hp and 310 Nm, good for 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.7 seconds and a top speed close to 260 km/h. This is the iconic Carrera engine: torque, reliability and a charismatic sound track.

ABOUT THIS CAR:

What truly sets this car apart is the cabin. Ordered through Porsche Exclusive (Sonderwunsch) as Sonderleder in Carreragrau (MB). This special leather covers the door panels and the entire dashboard, wraps the instrument surround and even the dashboard switches, and is finished throughout with exclusive body-colored seat piping. It is complimented by fully electric and heated seats, to top off this premium spec. The result is a hand-built atmosphere that lifts this Cabriolet well beyond a standard Carrera 2.

Delivered new in Germany in 1991 (C00), the car was maintained in its early years by different Porsche Centers in Western Germany. It later moved to France, where it has passed through enthusiast hands and been continuously documented, with technical inspections and a thick file of invoices. In 2024 it underwent an extensive engine rebuild: new head studs, a top-end reseal, new clutch, new valve guides, new shocks, twin-distributor service, and various new oil lines. The car is fitted with brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and is ready to be enjoyed!

Outside, the charismatic Black Pearl Effect paint (L738) gives a classy, deep-black metallic presence that suits the Cabriolet lines and sets off the bespoke interior perfectly.
