996.2 GT3 Clubsport

The 996.2 GT3 Clubsport is the hardcore version of an already focused car. Porsche offered the Clubsport package (003) for owners who wanted a road-legal GT3 with genuine racing equipment. The Clubsport package included: a welded black roll cage integrated into the chassis, fire-retardant Nomex bucket seats, battery cutoff switch accessible from outside the car, and stripped-back interior. The Clubsport was designed for track day enthusiasts who wanted factory-spec safety equipment without building a full race car.

The heart remains the Mezger 3.6-litre flat-six producing 381 hp with a 8,200 rpm redline. Individual throttle bodies deliver instant response. The six-speed manual gearbox is precise and mechanical. The GT3 sits 30mm lower than standard with adjustable suspension and larger brakes. Combined with the Clubsport’s reduced weight, this is one of the most focused driver’s cars Porsche ever built for the road.

This particular Clubsport is exceptionally rare. Speed Yellow (L12H) is arguably the best color ever fitted to a GT3. Combined with the Clubsport specification, this is a car that stands out. Very few GT3s were ordered with the Clubsport package, and even fewer in Speed Yellow. It’s believed only a few hundred cars were built in this exact configuration worldwide.

The car was delivered new in Russia in 2003 before being directly exported to Japan where an avid Porsche GT collector purchased it. He kept the car in museum condition until 2014, when it was exported to Germany at 29,400 km. It’s remained in a private collection ever since and now shows just 31,041 km. The condition is immaculate throughout with 100% original paint: never touched, never damaged.

Clubsport GT3s with low mileage, Speed Yellow paint, and 100% original condition don’t exist anymore. Most were tracked hard or modified, while the survivors are already hidden away in collections.
